Shooters 2012

Post by HereComesPete »

Well, shooter season is on it's way with the end of summer (ha, what summer!)

So here's a few that are currently on my radar, feel free to add or post for me to add to the list.

Borderlands 2 - you've all seen the video, it has wub wub and guns. Co-op will be fun, remember to collect all the guns ever and we can trade them!

Sniper: Ghost warrior 2 - First one was fun for sniping, shit for just about everything else. This is cryengine3 and looks to be far better.

Far Cry 3 - Seemingly nothing to do with FarCry or FarCry 2, but I guess that's to be expected now. Drug taking, sex with crazy woman (sounds like me last year). Looks to have quite a well thought out/fun multi-player.

Dishonored - Creepy as fuck, dystopian, half-life striders meet thief deadly shadows. Throw in some mad time bending powers and sword play. I am excite.

As for what else that I remembered after posting.

We've got TF2 Co-op, seems that we fail massively in a group but we can complete it when we're with randoms.

Planetside 2 - Pants has posted on this, I probably watched a video and decided to forget about it. It looks quite good to be honest. FAQ page still says they'll release a go live announcement at some point.

Thief 4 has been mentioned, but that's about it. But the very fact that they mentioned its existence makes me happy. Is it a shooter? It's got bows right, that's good enough for me.

XCOM - not the strategy type XCOM: Enemy Unknown but the shooter one. Both of them look good.

Prey 2 - about as different from the first one as can be. Looks good though, intergalactic bounty hunting with lots of gunplay and gribblies.

Aliens: Colonial Marines - beeping detectors, scary shit crawling through pipes, multi-player. Play it with the lights on.

Bioshock Infinite - yes bioshock 2 was utter balls, but the first one was awesome, I'm hoping this is more like that, but in the air. At the very least a story that's not written by a crack smoking child will help.

Hitman Absolution - whore nuns? Whatever! Silverballers, playing dress up and strangling people with a bit of wire.

CS:GO is out - prof likes it, do we have anyone else playing with a view of this latest revamp of Sauce?

Metro Last light has apparently slipped into 2013 and not just January/February 2013. But as long as it gets the polish it deserves I'm not bothered, also it saves me having to buy it at the same time as all the other games that are due.

Halo 4 is tempting me into buying a new 360 (or maybe I'll just borrow one).

Oh dear, none of those really interest me. Dishonoured maybe, but it looks fairly Bioshock. Maybe I've had my fill of shooters.

Planetside 2 I'm interested in though, does that not have a release date yet?

CS a GO GO :boogie:
Yeah I do play it, there's a surprise! I've resisted posting as i'm sure you lot have heard enough of me shouting "lets play CS" for the 100th time

Valve have made this trailer. We all know what CS is like, and well this is not really it but meh whatever:

The instant respawn gungame mode seems to be the default one now, meaning its a lot more UT like - no messing about waiting for rounds. They've taken the mod as a basis and done it quite nicely i think for fast and frantic type gaming.
The other modes still have rounds, but gameplay still seems a bit faster, people die more easily if you ask me but are harder to hit.

Anyway, its pretty cheap, and I recon it would be good fun to have a 5punky game of it now and then

PS I think i'd like hitman

BM:S is the only one I'm really excited by.

Saying that borderlands 2 and Cs go have potential.

There's blops 2 due out in a coupla months too.

And it can fuck off and die in a horrific chemical laced skip fire whilst being mauled by mangy rabid cats.

It's small maps, quick scoping and people bunny hopping like the floor is made of lava. And it has tomahawks in again, but this time they explode...

Oh, actually this. See, there are some interesting shooters about (or in the case of Borderlands 2 one that doesn't pretend to be anything but a manshoot).

Well, I think it looks like fun. For me certainly more interesting than the more serious shooters listed here. But whatever floats your enemy boat spotted.

Prey 2 may well be dead, don't hold your breath.
